BACK TO BIG ISLAND BEACHES
Kamakahonu Beach is next to the Kailua Pier and directly in front of the Kona Beach Hotel. This is where King Kamehameha spent his last days.
The beach is a small crescent shaped, white sand beach thast protected by the harbour, so is is always calm. Families love it here because it is safe for the kids to play in.
It is a good beach for swimming and to practice the most popular sport on the island, stand up paddleboard, or if you would rather just relax, the sand is perfect for sunbathing. If you plan on snorkeling then its best to try the north end of the beach, if you left your gear at your resort there are rental concessions here.
Amenities include food and drink, washrooms, and showers.
